'Crime' At The Social
Talking of Patrick Hamilton - as I believe we were on Monday – I often think of him as I wander through London’s Fitzrovia area, trying to figure out the exact location of his famous pub, The Midnight Bell, from Twenty Thousand Streets Under The Sky, which is described as being on the Euston Road, near Warren Street tube. Perhaps it’s there in some parallel world, still attracting the lonely and the disappointed.
If you’re in that neck of the woods next Tuesday, here’s an intriguing event taking place at London’s Social Bar – a trendy little place, all concrete and booths - just off Great Portland Street. ‘Crime’ is described as an evening of literature and music, and features the considerable talents of Sophie Hannah, SJ Watson, RJ Ellory, Stav Sherez, Tom Benn and Russ Litten.
Starting at 7pm, tickets are £5 in advance from Faber Social or £7 on the door.
